This reminds me of when you asked what the evolutionary purpose of death was.

There is a purpose to love. Love is an incredibly complex hormonal and psychological response.

Love serves to force the conscious part of higher animals to devote every single aspect of their existence towards the survival and well-being. Simple chemical reactions and stimuli might suffice for ants, but are not enough for cats and apes.

If mammals don't use all of their brain power to assist their young and advance their species, then the species can't propogate and the brain power would die out.

Love is a form of control over your mind, and if you like, soul. It's a part of your purpose, because remember, helping others in the tribe/pack is what being human is about.

What was the evolutionary puprose of death, again?

(Correct answer: to unite us with our creator (God!))
