"forever" is a stupid word

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
It's just "for" and "ever" stuck together.

It is a word of the people.

they belong together like peanut butter and jelly!

Yeah!

No such thing as forever...or is there!?

That's an extremely difficult question though you were probably not looking for a serious answer. 'Forever' denotes eternity and eternity cannot exist in a space-time construct. Past, present and future become meaningless. Nothing can happen in an eternal present.

To escape the shackles of linear progression you need to start to warp the very fabric of space-time or simply escape it all together.

As you reach the Planck length in Quantum Mechanics space-time does behave very differently, and with the probability distribution creating and annihilating particles outside the normal laws of the universe things can get foamy. At this scale time as we know it is meaningless.

I'm always looking for a serious answer.

Well you got one!

Could I get a non serious answer please?

Forever is waiting for this fucking site to load.

Menty:

Big crunch or entropy?

Quantum Mechanics is something that interests me but I've never been able to get my head fully around. Just the idea of time be able to go "foamy", for example, is hard for my Asperger's riddled brain to grasp.

Or anybody's. I find it hard enough thinking in 4 dimensions.. or however many it is I'm using.

That's the exact thing that attracts me to it.

Light is a wave AND a particle.

At their most basic levels, matter and energy are only tendancies to exist...

The whole obersation changes the outcome...

I love paradoxes.

ENTROPY

When you're dealing with a closed universe the result of the Big Crunch violates Thermodynamics. Since where does all that heat go?

And the result of that is that time would flow backwards in the direction of decreasing Entropy.

Maybe it's the fact that I don't like complicated observer theoretics so I'll call Occam's Razor on this one and site the third option. You know, the one we don't have a clue about.

Yeah, I have no idea.

It's very interesting though when the Big Bang in of itself is a paradox. A to B to C to A etc..

Maybe our observations of a paradox are constrained by the fact that we are stuck within our dimensions and so can only possibly conceive of linear time. Past and present are thus shattered according to our understanding.

If Entropy continues and we reach the Big Crunch and it then causes the Big Bang then the Universe is on a deterministic course. The result is 'ahead of us' and 'behind us' and reality will never cease due to a paradox that makes sense but doesn't conform to out understanding of space-time from our perspective.

Oh, fuck you all, I'm drunk and can't be dealing with this shit!

I think God did it.

Hawking would be proud.
