Former Wilmington Shark Alec Bohm named MLB All-Star starter​

2016 Wilmington Shark, Alec Bohm, has been named the starting third baseman for the National League in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. Fifteen former Sharks have made it to the MLB, Bohm is the first to be selected to an all-star team. In 2016 with the Sharks, Bohm had a .330 batting average, 11 home runs, 12 doubles and a league-leading 51 RBIs to help Wilmington to a 32-22 record and a postseason appearance. Bohm also won the 2016 CPL Home Run Derby and obtained All-CPL First Team and All-Star honors. The Philadelphia Phillies selected Bohm with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. Through 84 games with the Phillies in 2024, Bohm has a .299 batting average with 11 home runs, MLB-leading 28 doubles and NL-leading 70 RBIs.

Four Wilmington Sharks make Coastal Plain League All-Star team​

Four Sharks have made the CPL All-Star team. Second baseman Caleb Johnson is one of the best base stealers in the CPL. He has 20 so far this season. Infielder Trace Wilhoite has been making a living at the plate. He leads the sharks in both home runs and runs batted in. Pitcher Greyson Linderman has been shut down on of the bullpen this season, he has more strikeouts than innings pitched and has a save. Starting pitcher Travis Lavendier has 4 wins in his 6 starts. The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced the rosters for the 2024 All-Star Game to be held in Forest City, N.C., at McNair Field on July 7 and 8. This marks the 24th annual version of the league’s summer classic.
