Now I'm starting to wonder if we've crossed paths before. I play FFXIV (on Gilgamesh), but I SWG was my first MMO. I've currently got a small presence in SWG: Legends, reduced even further with the passing of my friend. They just had house-demo, and I didn't get to his places in time.
I adore FFXIV, but the time sink is real since if I'm playing I like to keep up with end game raids and the like. It's still MUCH more forgiving that WOW was when I was playing that steadily up to Legion. That game does not respect your time at all if you want to keep doing end game stuff consistently. I don't know if its improved much since then, but knowing Blizzard, probably not. I still play Hearthstone and the current state of the game is abysmal. I will return to FFXIV at some point, but I'm truly done with WOW.
The friends no longer present (passed or not) hits hard as well. When I boot up the Blizz client to play Hearthstone I can still see all my old WOW contacts and going through the list and seeing "last logged on 10 years ago, 6 years ago, 8 years ago (you get the point) stings.
SWG was really special back in the day until they introduced the Jedi path for everyone. One of the most tragic missteps in game design I can think of. Really ruined what made the game so good.

Ah, I was an NGE baby, so I never knew "the before time". But I've heard it ad-nauseam from everyone I've ever encountered from that period.
With all I went through to get my cloaks and shit like that with the holocron grind, not just for myself but for others, I feel I earned my Jedi, and nobody can tell me differently.
