Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area

Forever Empress E
Going there the weekend of Feb. 15th. So far, visiting my traveling buddy's friend and Jungle Island. I'd like to take a pirate cruise too. What is a must do type of thing to do there this time of year? What about Bayside Marketplace?

:bigass:

Guess who lives in the area?

Fort Lauderdale strip is good (this is the area http://www.elboroom.com/, famous bar)

Bayside is good for a stroll and some tourist shops.

Don't bother going to Gulfstream (Horse track + casino + ritzy shops). A lot of the businesses their are going out of business (Cadillac Ranch, The Irish Pub, and a few others).

I always wanted to go to Jungle Island. Maybe when the kids are older and they'll remember it.

If you're into gambling, the only casino worth visiting is the Seminole Hardrock off of 441. Shows, bars, casino, etcera. ( http://www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com/ ).

If you're into flea markets... there's two. One is huge and very renowned. ( http://www.floridaswapshop.com/swap.html - Fort Lauderdale - Circus, rides, tons of shops, drive-in movie theater - surrounding area SUCKS. Bunch of niggers.)

Another flea market option (less niggers and spics) would be off of Sample and Turnpike (15min north of Ft Lauderdale) Festival Flea Market and half a mile away is Butterfly World. http://www.butterflyworld.com/mapinfo.html w/ discount coupon http://www.festival.com/ If you choose this option during the day/late afternoon, you may want to get off on Commercial on the way home and take it to A1A (the beach) and walk around on the pier and ritzy restaurants.

I don't know Miami much. I'm not fond of it.

One of my favorite spots, where I take the family is Johnson Street on Hollywood Beach. It's nothing special, but they have a mini-theater where they book bands (usually jazz or old rock). You definitely want to hit up the beaches, unless you despise them.

Oh shit. There's Las Olas to, another ritzy tourist attraction. Not sure if it's open, most of the shops there are seasonal. I guess it's tourist/snowbird season, so you may be in luck. http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/

If you're deadset in finding something to do in Miami... I can find something fun for you to do. I peg you as the rich, white, wine drinking tourist type who enjoys fine seafood at a place where all the waiters wear ties. Are you more interested in shopping or scenery or drinking or ?

Last time I was on Las Olas, it wasn't too active. in Miami, Bayside sort of hit the skids, though, the design district looks promising. South Beach is still terrific. If I didn't have to work, I go up to meet both you and Jibbles. Seriously, have fun.

LOL - my travel buddy and I are women in our mid to late 50s, in good shape, getting off an airplane and into a rent car, with luggage, and staying at a mid-priced hotel for a few days. I'm not tall and she is short. Those days of wandering off into the wilder parts of the world are over at least for me for a few more years. When I'm near dead I'll go back to rushing in where angels fear to tread.

We're flying in, visiting her friends, and hanging out at the hotel the first day.

She's into animals - zoos, rescue outfits and such - why we're going to Jungle Island one day. I live in a mini forest and have no need to see wild life away from home.

We're going to take a boat tour one day. It is only a 3-hour tour though. Yes - I'm hearing the Gilligan's Isle theme song.

We will definitely do shopping. I don't drink but she does. Since I'm doing all the driving, that's cool. Don't know if she gambles. Probably not. Girl squeezes a dollar til it bleeds and then she makes it cry. Pretty sure she wouldn't touch anything from a flea market. I'm vegetarian but she's not. She is Jewish so she does have some dietary restrictions. I would like to have at least one meal at a really nice and different restaurant while we are there though. Never know when I'll get that way again.

Then we're flying out later on Monday.

I'll put all that stuff on our list and see what we can get to while we're there.

Thanks!

I've been known to get drunk on the beach and make sand castles all night until the sun rises. The last one I made had a whole bunch of penises and tits. It was grand.

Nah. Porn ridden sand castle for perverts. That same night I deepthroated a Snickers bar and nearly choked.

Also, some niggas greeted me "WELCOME TO FORT LIQUORDALE!" to which I responded "I love you niggas".

Won't be long now. My travel buddy wants to see "odd" sights. However, I don't think trannies on the beach is quite what she has in mind.

I'm getting excited. Haven't been on a plane in awhile. Got to think about what to pack and how to pack it. Can't just throw it in the car.

Making lists of things to do and see. Need to find a few snazzy dining establishments too.

Its going to be fun. Can hardly wait. Going on vacation is better than Christmas - almost.

Philly Cheesesteak Cicilean Pizza from Carini's.

My friend might like that. I see they have a vegetarian pizza and salads too. It could work out. Thanks!

It's a gourmet pizza/Italian restaurant. The Philly is my personal favorite. I burn my mouth every time because I can't wait for it too cool. I don't do that with any other food. http://www.carinispasta.com/

Old Hidelberg is a good German/Hungarian place too. On Fridays/Saturdays they have a accordian player who's very enthusiastic. http://www.heidelberg84.com/

And the last one of my favorites is J Alexander's. http://www.jalexanders.com/index.php

This one's pretty good too.
