So my university has been pushing a return to office despite being online, and most of our staff having been hired as remote workers even pre-pandemic. Today they decided to let another shoe drop... we were told originally we could chose to move to the office closest to you so that the moves were not as impactful, now we have to move where they decided your TEAM has to be, which for my team which is fully remote is 1500-1800 miles from where we all are located. What is insane is my boss actually lived near one of the sites, and I actually live 15 min away from one of the satellite offices, but they are making us move to the other side of the fucking country, basically ensuring he will be leaving in August now.
I have till August to decide but I am already getting my resume out there as is the bulk of my team, basically gutting security operations there.
And this was all decided by university president because he was told it would help collaboration, despite everyone having worked this way for well over half a decade now, in some cases nearly a decade and he himself having never left the area of the main office in his entire life.
