‘Most hated man in Britain’ to get frosty reception at home

DUBBED ‘the most hated man in Britain’ by the tabloids, football star Cristiano Ronaldo can expect a frosty reception not only at the gates of Old Trafford, but on his own Woodford doorstep... should he ever return.
The 21-year-old Man United midfielder has been lambasted by England and United fans for provoking his team-mate Wayne Rooney into the push that, together with a stamp, earned Rooney a red card in England’s exit match from the World Cup.
Outraged fans have gathered to protest outside Old Trafford, vowing to boo Ronaldo off the pitch, and his neighbours are also unlikely to hold a street party if comes back to his Chester Road home.
Lee Evans, of Chester Road, said: "I was astonished to be honest, but we don’t know anything about him really. I was just disgusted that he would do this."
Ronaldo lives with his mother in a club-owned mansion near the Macclesfield border - the high hedge and solid-gated entrance arch give nothing away of the celebrity inhabitant.
David McLeod, who lives across the road, said: "We did see a couple of flags pinned to the fence, but there’s luckily been no bother from angry fans. I can’t imagine him coming back after this. He’ll be sold - he doesn’t want to stay anyway."
The £12.24m Madeira-born star was also seen winking at his home bench after asking the referee to discipline Rooney.
He is believed to be seeking a transfer to Real Madrid.
Resident Keith Hampton, who was a football referee for 16 years, said: "It’s very simple - he had no reason to get involved in the incident because it was nothing to do with him. As far as I’m concerned, had it not been for his interventions, Rooney would not have been sent off.
"He will never be welcomed back into this country and he’ll be out by Christmas. The fans will hound him out unless he comes back and apologises profusely to the whole country for his actions."
Others commented on ‘arrogance’, ‘cynical wind ups’ and ‘disgrace’.
One of the latest spleen-venting vehicles to have developed is the website www.ihateronaldo.com.
Pages picture the player being shot, beheaded and in a step aerobics class. It also shows the England v Portugal referee with a guide dog and exclaims ‘we want the cheat brought to justice’.
A spokesman for Manchester United would only comment: "Despite the intense media speculation, we will not be drawn on Ronaldo’s future with the club."

LOL. Fergy will have to sell him to Real Madrid, surely.

he's a good player and he's also an excellent diver. he took no less than a dozen in today's game alone.

CR is a good player, yes. But he's a cocky bitch and he tries too many tricks for his own good.

he's young and cocky. he reminds me of ronaldinho in 2002.

btw what happened to that guy? was he in this tourney?

Does he still have that sexual assault charge on his head? Or was that tossed?

^never heard another peep.

And he is a good - no, brilliant - player, but the diving is getting old.
Happily the ref today wasn't buying any.

And I saw the wink at the Portugese bench too.

yeah the wink was so evil.

too bad too, he might have been a legendary player. but now he's gonna get a real creepy rep.

he reminds me of ronaldinho in 2002.

I don't ever recall
Ronaldinho being a bad sport, or a malicious player!
The wink was cynical, acknowledging to
the other Portugese that he had a hand in Rooney's red card booking.

i meant his youthful cockiness and his being a talented football player

true ronaldinho never was and is not a malicious fucktard.

Ronaldinho is a far better player than Christiano.
