There's this whole splatter movement that seemed to originate with "Ju-On", and "Ringu", films like that.

They take about 45 minutes of this long drawn out very slow and very boring talk fantasy that then goes over the top gore wise in the last 15 as it plays out the fantasy in ways you couldn't possibly imagine unless your mom had Hiroshima tats.

Back when I was running the Kingdom, DevilMan had quite a forum on those films. I guess theres like thirteen (probably more now) of them, the premise is they're all on an island and have to "eliminate" each other in some way.

With the declining economy and birthrates rising, Japan decides to institute the "Battle Royale Program" Where they send problematic classes to an island to duel to the death with a premise much like Highlander, only one can remain alive. Given a bag with rations, water and a random weapon, the students are set against each other. Many dont wish to fight, others fight to win.
