Game Of Thrones 4.2 'The Lion And The Rose'

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
A who’s who of honored guests turns out for Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding in King’s Landing, but the king’s taste in entertainment rubs many of them the wrong way. Meanwhile, Bronn gives a lesson to an unlikely pupil; Bran’s vision helps map out his journey; Stannis loses patience with Davos; and Ramsay takes a perverse delight in his new pet.

This episode was written by GRRM.

It was really good! They really made us hate Joffrey before he finally DIED with his mean face :rwmad: The wedding feast was fantastic. Joffrey was such a shit the whole time! Even Margaery was having difficulty controlling him with her awesome duck face.

Even Ramsay and Theon's stuff was good. I was getting really sick of the torture shit last season, but it has paid off (I hope). At least people who haven't read the books will find Theon's behavior believable.

My one little quibble with this episode was Cersei and Brienne. WTF? I never thought Brienne was in love with Jaime. I think she loves him, but not the way Cersei suggested. Are they going to fuck up Jaime and Brienne's relationship because they can't manage to write a respectful friendship between a man and a woman? Well, hopefully they're just doing it this way because they changed the story a bit (Jaime didn't have Brienne arrested for killing Renly) and they need someone to be mad at Brienne so they can do the next thing...

I saw the wedding feast -- so is Tyrion really in deep doo-doo? No matter what happens in the books (still haven't read them), there's no way they would take Dinklage off the show -- do you know how few cable series actors have won Emmys and Golden Globes? He is bank for them.

Agreed.

Nonetheless a very good episode! I'd been tipped off that Joffrey would die this season but I was still surprised it was so early and so sudden. I was hoping he'd be slapped to death by someone. I was also expecting him to get bored and order those dwarves to have an actual battle to the death. I'm glad that didn't happen.

Just like they wouldn't kill off the star Sean Bean in the first season? ;)

The Theon scenes were better because they actually moved the story forward. Of course they could have just left him out of last season and skipped to him beng broken like in the books but...

I hope they explain who Ramsay's girlfriend is and why she's so evil?

Bran is now more eyebrow than boy.

I liked the scene with Melisandre and Shireen.

It was good that they spent so much time on Joffrey being a dick in his last episode, just to show you why he had to die and to make it more satisfying when he did! I'm glad they left the book chopping scene in.

The dwarves were good (WHERE WAS PENNY?) Sophie Turner does the best haunted look.

I don't know about Brienne being "in love" with Jaime either, Cassie. But maybe she just felt awkward with Cersei being a bitch.

Margaery is my Queen.

LOL Margery is no longer queen. Looks like Joffreys little bro is king though. That should be interesting. At least Circe got to put her best pained expression on again.

I clapped at the end!

I couldn't remember what the old Tommen looked like (or his name even) so I was a bit confused but then they kept showing him sitting there not sure if he should be amused or not (and with his blond hair) and I realized he was Joffrey's brother.

Also it's annoying that they haven't shown or mentioned Lancel since Blackwater. Is he supposed to be dead? (He's not dead in the books BUT THAT WOULDN'T STOP THEM.)

Same as Cassie. I didn't remember what Joffreys brother looked like, but the new one is such a mini me that it was obvious.
