Game of Thrones 5.7 'The Gift'

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
Jon prepares for conflict. Sansa tries to talk to Theon. Brienne waits for a sign. Stannis remains stubborn. Jaime attempts to reconnect with family.

Knowing that "Stannis remains stubborn" has spoiled the WHOLE EPISODE for me.

Bronn was poisoned just so we could see some Sand Snake tits!

All the boys who think being a nice guy will get them laid should be rejoicing for Sam. I actually thought that scene was sweet, but the review I just read put that spin on it, and irritated me. :rwmad:

I'm glad they're speeding up Dany's storyline.

How long will Brienne stare at Winterfell before she realizes maybe Sansa can't even signal for help? Hopefully now Sansa realizes she can't fucking tell Theon everything, he will blab!

I hope she stabs that little rapist wife beater repeatedly in the face and genitals with that pointy thing she swiped off the barrel. He can't get any more creepy I don't think. ugh

He's definitely the new Joffrey.

Glad that Tyrion finally met Danaerys, even if we didn't actually get anything more than that.

The Sand Snake scene could've gone somewhere, but it was just an excuse to show boobs. Yawn. (They were fine boobs, but the episodes are slow enough without unnecessary scenes like this).

Loved all the Diana Rigg/Jonathan Pryce scenes and we need more.

Yeah it was blatantly just a boob excuse and I guess they want to show that the new actreses have nice boobs because they can't show Emilia Clarke or Natalie Dormer's boobs anymore (I assume, why else would Dany hold a sheet in front of her chest when in bed with her lover?) But yes, nice boobs! At least Bronn sang again. Was it a kind of of poison that only activates when someone is sexually aroused?

The scenes with Olenna and the High Sparrow were good yeah because of the actors. And with Cersei at the end. She probably shouldn't have given the church as much power when she's queen incest!

The Sam/Gilly thing...yeah it would have been fine if they'd just had sex without the rape threat bit. But Gilly was routinely raped by her own father so maybe she woudln't react to a rape threat the same way as another person. Hey, we saw Ghost! He didn't go with Jon? Do Ghost and Jon even like each other?

How did Ramsey know that one old woman was the one to flay? (Or did he just flay loads of them until he got the right one.)

It's like they feel they have to include this stuff because it's expected but they're writing the story around the next rape or nudity rather than writing rapes or nudity that serve the story.

I read something (but I don't know if it's true) that someone from HBO demands they have lots of naked women because the audience are perverts.

Oh ?Game of Thrones? Nudity Explained ? Slice of SciFi

Ever wonder why there’s so much nudity on Game of Thrones? We are, after all, talking about a show that one critic coined the term “sexposition” to describe certain scenes in the show.

Director Neil Marshall says that the directive to have “full frontal nudity” comes from the show’s creative team.

“The weirdest part [of directing Game of Thrones] was when you have one of the exec producers leaning over your shoulder, going, ‘You can go full frontal, you know. This is television, you can do whatever you want! And do it! I urge you to do it!’ So I was like, ‘Okay, well, you’re the boss,'” he tells ScreenCrush. “This particular exec took me to one side and said, ‘Look, I represent the pervert side of the audience, okay? Everybody else is the serious drama side, [but] I represent the perv side of the audience, and I’m saying I want full frontal nudity in this scene.’ So you go ahead and do it.”

So, yeah they're just putting it in to give this guy a boner.

Yeah when Neil Marshall directed the Blackwater episode the original script (by GRRM) didn't have any nudity in it but the producers "suggested" he set the Bronn/Hound scene in a brothel so they could have tits.
