Game of Thrones 5.8 'Hardhome'

Dan Harmon ‏@danharmon 9m9 minutes ago

They should have a restaurant like Hooters but called Hodors and all the waiters could be irritating magical children

I MISS HODOR :rwmad:

This season's been kind of lacking so far, but this was a pretty great episode. Every scene was good and there was no confusing Dorne stuff or rape scenes dragging it down. The Dany/Tyrion interaction was well done and it's fun seeing characters interact for the first time in five seasons. Cersei's scenes were sad even though if anyone deserves it it's her. Sansa and Theon was well acted. Arya finally got to go outside again and be a sassy oyster salesperson!

But obviously the highlight was the Hardhome stuff (which is lucky since it took up half the episode!) Remember in the first season when we Tyrion was knocked out before a battle because they couldn't afford to show it? How far we've come! There were so many highlights in the battle. Wun-Wun bursting out the hut and being all "fuck you I'm a giant!" And swinging a giant flaming log. More Wun-Wun please. And so many zombies. And the White Walkers actually getting a bit of characterisation kind of! And Jon always gets the best fight scenes. All the photography was beautiful. The Wildling woman was a good character considering she was only in half an episode.

So yeah this was probably what the season needed.

This was probably the best episode this season.

I'm glad Sansa knows her brothers aren't dead!

I was really disappointed the Wildling woman got killed. She was a really good actress.

White Walker kids are CREEPY GET OUT GET OUT!!

I was worried the giant would get turned towards the end. Any idea if that possible? If there are zombie horses then why not.

I wonder what the zombie rules for GoT are. Kinda seems like you have to be killed instead of just bitten or scratched, and maybe it's not the zombies turning the dead into zombies but the head zombie does it with magic.

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen Hints That We May Not Have Seen the Last of Her Game of Thrones Character | Vanity Fair

Your name was on the IMDB list for the finale this year. Will we see Karsi again?

I was surprised to see that myself. I think it’s been removed. I’m not sure, what I’ve been told is that nobody knows what happens in the future on Game of Thrones so I’m just as excited as anyone else to see what that’s all about. But, you know, being dead and being undead are two different things.

So maybe she'll get to be on the show again (maybe she knows but isn't allowed to say?). I was super bummed that such an interesting character turned up, and then BAM SHE'S FUCKING DEAD :rwmad: If she does get to be on the show more, she won't get to have the same personality, since she's a zombie... so doesn't really matter if she comes back, they'll have to kill her all over again.

The White Walkers are the inhuman ice warriors who can only be killed by dragon glass or, as we found out there, Valyrian steel. Their leader is the Darth Maul looking guy called the Night's King. The zombies are called Wights and they're controlled by the White Walkers. I think they can turn any dead person into a Wight. They don't spread the zombie infection by biting like normal zombies (I did think "are they going to turn the giant into a zombie" when it was getting bit too. They would have been totally fucked then!) There was a zombie bear in the books.
