At first blush, Ryan Gosling is not someone I would choose to be a leading man. I like the tall, dark and handsome types with deep, resonating voices. Ryan Gosling is a blond with a soft, higher pitched voice. But, gosh darn it, he is a sexy thang and he is a mighty fine actor.
Sean Penn has improved as he has aged. He did this gangster part justice.
Josh Brolin is a fine actor, he is good looking, his daddy was good looking, etc.
Gangster Squad was pretty much what I expected due to the name and the trailers. Good movie. Physically brutal at times. Lots of action. Lots of story. Not constant explosions. Lots of machine gun action. Reminds that gangsters are not the kind of people that need to be held up as heroes.
Best thing about this movie is when one of the actors says that it is getting hard to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. Amen.
