Garden 2008

missmanners

grrrrrrrr...
Due to a long cold wet spring, I'm late with gardening this year. I just finished spading up my 25 x 25 veggie spot and I've started mowing the "4 acre golf course" that is my back yard.

I decided against buying a tractor because I can use the exercise and because I'm going to buy a computer instead. I'd like to get more weeds pulled but I have too many other things to get done today. Sometime this weekend I need to find 4 really good tomato stakes and some zucchini plants.

The baby bunnies are in the front flower beds and one ran into my garage, I hope I dont flatten him when I leave for work later.

After alternating heat waves and rain for days on end, I've finally got an evening I can work outside again. The veggie plot needs cultivated and three tomato plants are going in shortly. I may as well get the zucchini planted and everything soaked good too.

I found the tomato stakes, huge sharp ones and I felt like a vampire hunter toting them around the garden center.

Teh closest neighbors to me have two dogs (lets call them "target" and "big target") that have a game of hiding in the brush and waiting for me to walk by and then they jump out snarling and snapping. I don't dislike dogs, but these two are in my crosshairs.

Good luck with the veggies. I've got a mini herb garden in a windowbox. And my succulent collection is blooming.

We've got all 11 gardens finally in. I spent the later part of yesterday outside in them.

We've got three kinds of tomatoes, and the cut and come again mesclun is thriving enough for daily salad already.

I'm looking forward to the hummingbird rows though, they're cool when they show up.

There is a new beetle attacking the beans, never seen it before but it's hungry.

I'll get my daughter to take some digipix and post them later this week.

It finally dried out enough to stake the tomatoes. In a normal year, the locals would have the first produce ready, but there is nothing normal about this year.

Knock on wood the poison ivy hasn't returned, but other weeds are everywhere. I'm gonna try to get some stickery bushes to plant under the windows, the stickerier the better, but I keep pulling weeds and pulling weeds and pulling weeds. Too bad there arent some good stickery weeds around here.
