More good news. I fixed my DVD drive so now I can install a new printer and get back to copying my CDs to my MP3 player.
This computer isn't even a year old yet. Burned out the power supply. Kiddo put a new power supply on for me. But, then the DVD drive didn't work. Haven't really needed it so didn't worry about it. I can always do some stuff on my laptop that would require dvd/cd.
Then, Norton had an issue and PC wouldn't install updates, including updating my antivirus stuff. And, Norton decided to take exception with UO and wouldn't let me install updates to the game so I could play it.
Norton's solution was for me to become IT person and fix the problem myself. Which, after much reading and fiddling and uttering a lot of not very nice words, finally managed to get the Norton issue fixed which also fixed the UO problem.
Then, I needed a new printer cause I wore the old one out and I want a wireless device anyway. Couldn't install it because the DVD thing wasn't working. Got to puttering and realized the DVD cables hadn't been connected properly or came loose in the transport. Fixed that. Now, can play CDs on my PC and copy the music to my mp3 player and Nook. And, can install the new wireless printer. Actually, have to take the printer I bought yesterday back to the store tomorrow and exchange it for a wireless printer. Got the one I did because it was cheaper. Then, discovered I have to buy a separate usb cable in order to use it. Once I buy the usb cable it will be as expensive as the wireless printer. So, might as well get the wireless.
I miss when computers and monitors and printers and such were plug and play type things. And, they worked without me having to be an IT and hardware person.
