I live in what could be called an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Bing only recently got birds eye pictures of my area. The best I get from Google Maps is blurry town level zoom satalite shots.
I've found Birds-eye incredibly useful for house/apartment hunting.
Apart from that, the beta Silverlight powered version of Bing maps stomps all over Google Maps in awesomeness, and it has street view. Try it.
Trying out the birds eye view thing... pretty nifty. Just looking at central London for now, so it's heavily documented. I can see how this'd be useful if you were trying to get around the city. Gives you a better idea how how the streets look than top/down views do.
Is jaywalking some kind of crime everywhere in the US? The woman 'jaywalking' in London just seems to be crossing the road normally, facing the oncoming traffic to avoid getting run over. Not being a nuisance.
Oh, I could understand at an intersection (though there are some Japanese style ones where you're actually supposed to cross diagonally), but I'm surprised that reckless pedestrian road crossing is common enough to be on anyone's radar, really.
