Great moments in music

The Legendary Troll King
...the 4/4 tympani beats that Ringo puts down the first time Lennon sings "goo goo goo joob" in "I am the Walrus"

The bass drum pattern in Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life"

Ginger Baker's drum solo the Tuesday evening performance at the Royal Albert Hall this past year.

Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner with his teeth at woodstock.

Gracie Slick singing "We are all outlaws in the eyes of Amerika"

Duane Allman and Dickie Betts playing "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" into "Whipping Post" at the Fillmore.

Wow! You just picked some really crappy music for that list.

Let's try mine:

-The guitar riff that opens and flows through Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs". It digs into your soul and never let's go.

-The heavy twang of Neil Young's guitar on the refrain/solos on "Sun Green". I'd rather just say, all 12 minutes of the song.

-The mind-numbing circular drums, by Danny Carey on Tool's "Jimmy".

-The guitar solo in the middle of Led Zeppelin's "Tea for one" where I'd swear Page is making his guitar weep.

-Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child Blues". The whole damned song. Not to be confused with "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".

-Funky guitar and brilliant jazz drumming in the funky jam in the midddle of "Can't you hear me knocking" by the Rolling Stones

-"Feed your head" The lyrics in Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit"

-"Marcia Funebre" The second movement in Beethoven's third symphony.

-Simon and Garfunkel "The Boxer". How the song starts and finishes with one guitar, but it peaks with what sounds like a 20+ piece orchestra.

-How completely stoned the band members of Big Brother and the Holding Company were when they wrote "Combination of the Two".

I could go on, but I don't have the time.

If any of you mention the Doors or Creed, I'll flip.

Then you'd like kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and Sleep. They're all really good stoner metal. Space rock, go for floyd.

I've got R, their self-titled, lullabies, and songs for the deaf. All great music.

Kyuss was QOTSA before Josh Homme took the frontman position. He's also got a side project called The Desert Sessions.

Another band that runs on Rekords Records is Eagles of Death Metal. They're fantastic.

I don't get stoned all that often, but I have my collection of rock that I listen to all the time.
