Gun prices are FUCKING OUTRAGOUS!

Ancalagon

I'm not wearing any panties!!
So I decided I was going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the purchase of PTR.

I was originally looking for a PTR-91 KFM4, which could be found online for ~1K to 1.2. No fucking dice.

THERE ARE NONE LEFT ON THE INTERNET. The best I could get was that maybe, maybe in 3 weeks I could pay 1.3 but it'd probably be upwards of 1400. What the fuck!

Well so yesterday, I had to take my buddy to the airport and we stopped at Quantico. They had a Kurz Paratrooper with Rails up on the heat shield. Basically everything I wanted in the KFM4 except its got a shittier buttstock.

What I want:

Add Rails.

To be honest, the KPF looks sharper IMO, but I'm just more comfortable with the M4 buttstock.

Oh... and the price. $1677. He said he could work with me, and they have military discounts, but damn!!! What the fuck man.

I almost bought it. :(

I'm going to be pulling the trigger on a lower receiver for the AR-15 and just build mine. Would be cheaper that way and I can put on it what I want.

I've got Del-Ton and Rock River. Any other good companies out there? Someone told me there was a bad one out there I think it was Olympic.

I've heard two bad things about Olympic and one "eh, there are worse."

I'd stay away.

Good luck. I'm glad I got my AR15 as soon as the ban ended in 04. I got the hankering for a lever action, but I'm going to bide my time. Shit is way too high all around since early November.

I'm planning on picking up a shotgun soon. I don't feel the need to own an assault rifle, they cost way too much and if I ever need one there will be plenty of them lying on the ground for me to pick up.

Wait, are you saying that lever actions are being run on as well?!?! What the fuck?! What's the basis for that?

Go with the Saiga 12!

You can still pick one up for under a grand.

Apostle, which Model did they have for ~1300? Was it the long or short? Did it have rails?

Everything and their cousin is being run on. Don't even get me started on ammo. At least I reload for .223. If it wasn't for me not visiting the range in awhile, I'd be in two other calibers.

Really.... How much would say, 100rnds of M855 go for?

I mostly just shoot .380 Auto, which hasn't had the spike yet.

This, right here, is definitive proof that God hates me. I was really, really committed to picking up an M1911--either a Taurus or a Kimber, and an M4. Maybe even a nice .357 or a SAA or two for Cowboy Action shooting if the price was right. Then this happened.

Eh. Rather than derail this thread I'll start a new one.

I usually shop online for ammo. I don't know about M855, but Lake City is going for around $13 / 20, so per 100 is $65.

Pretty fucked up when a mag dump costs a Jackson.

The more I think about it, the more I want it. The German Paratrooper stock does look a good bit sharper than the M4 stock. And it wasn't that bad when I put it in my shoulder.

The manufacture puts suggested retail at 1,595.00 USD, which considering the one at Quantico had integrated rails, 1,677.54 is a little below full markup. I'm gonna call on Friday and try and see how much I can work them down. Besides the military aspect, what exactly can I work to try and get the price down?

Considering how dry the market is right now, and the panic buying, I'm not sure I got much leverage. Nor do I have that much money to throw away right now. I'd have to put it on credit. I could pay it off after the 1st, but I don't like spending money I don't have. :/

I never understood people buying that stuff. What are they going to do with it, put them in display cases and look at them?

I guess I just detest knick-knacks.

I buy them because I believe they will go up in value. I always buy mint or near mint redline hotwheels and mainly the old miscle cars. Redlines are the old first generation hotwheels. I just bought a Camaro last week out of the same lot that first link was in for $329. I put mine in a shoebox wrapped in non acidic paper. Most of them will go back on ebay when the economy is roaring again in 5-10 years.
