Police are continuing their search for a 9 millimeter Glock which reportedly killed a shopkeeper on the lower east side Saturday evening, sometime between 3 and 4 am.
The victim, Sayed Nahasapeetapetalom had, according to surveillance tapes, offered no resistance when the gun entered and demanded all of the cash in the till, cartons of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages.
Nahasapeetapetalom was pronounced dead by Mercy Hospital EMT's at 4:13 am.
The gun was initially apprehended less than one block from Nahasapeetapetalom's store, and was detained for several minutes, but escaped custody when police failed to properly secure it in handcuffs. The gun's accessory, Willie Jefferson was held for several hours by authorities, but was released because there was no proof that Jefferson was cooperating willingly with the weapon.
The gun, which is still at large, was last seen moving down third avenue. It is steel grey, with highly polished wooden grips, and one high capacity clip. Though the weapon is unarmed, authorities consider it dangerous.
