Hastert, GOP stand together amid Foley scandal

Washington (CNN)The White House and GOP leaders are standing together in supporting embattled House Speaker Dennis Hastert, under fire over the handling of the scandal involving former Rep. Mark Foley. A conservative newspaper has called on Hastert, R-Illinois, to step down, but he says that won't be happening.

You know what they say, crooks of a feather...

Hastert: We had two messages. There were two pieces of paper out there, one that we knew about and we acted on; one that happened in 2003 we didn't know about, but somebody had it, and, you know, they're trying -- and they drop it the last day of the session, you know, before we adjourn on an election year. Now, we took care of Mr. Foley. We found out about it, asked him to resign. He did resign. He's gone. We asked for an investigation. We've done that.

The crime here is clear, coersion by someone in a position of power against someone who was a subordinate. Same as Bill Clinton. Regardless of whether Monica, the same age as Clinton's own daughter, was consentual, it was an abuse of power by somone who was powerful (The President), and someone who had no power, an intern. That's not a consentual relationship, for Clinton or for Foley.

For Foley, he was told to resign by his party. For Clinton, the rest of the Democrat party dismissed it and complained about Clinton's enemies instead.

That's a great contrast. Foley is gone, the GOP doesn't tolerate that sort of thing. As for Bill Clinton, the rest of you are still giving him blowjobs.

Yeah, the Democrats dismissed a blowjob in the Oval office. Those bastards! The Republicans dismissed lies, treason, raping of the constitution, economic slaughter of the middle class, the deaths of 2500 American soldiers, the wounding of 23,000 American soldiers, the deaths of 40,000 innocent civilians, a wanted terrorist, an illegal invasion, and a Rep. with a penchant for young boys.

I'd say it's about even wouldn't you?
