Help with mah zipper

a dll file is a data link library file, and no zip utility is going to "unzip" it. You
need a VB or C++ compiler or some other language's compiler to see what's in it,
and all your going to find is code, most likely. A dll is usually a big code module
that goes along with an exe program of some sort, or an extension of an exe.

But San Andreas doesn't run on Linux and WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT A CONSTANT STREAM OF CRAPPY, PATRONIZING, TIME-LIMITED BETA SOFTWARE FROM MICROSOFT!

Well no one actually told me I had to unzip this file. I had to download some recording software, and I'm gonna have to export the recordings to MP3 and I downloaded lame_enc which is a zipped thing-a-ma-jig. I just assumed that I had to unzip it to use it. I've now been informed by toxicdistortion that I can't unzip it because it's ummm I don't remember what he said but he's gonna tell me how to do it later.

I use Winzip.

I'm using audacity, and it is pretty cool. I still can't figure out how to export to the mp3 files... and I'm following all the instructions. Well maybe I did something wrong.. probably.

I downloaded lame_enc.dll which is what everyone else downloaded and they're not having the same problems. I think I'm supposed to download something else and maybe I just downloaded the wrong thing. GRrrr, I think I'll just go buy anew computer! haha.. and it'll be magically fixed by those sexy little elves who live in the hard drive.

My Audacity exports MP3s fine, but I've had it a long time so I can't remember having to do that lame thing. It sounds like you're supposed to download an .exe file, or that Audacity is supposed to recognise the .dll file you already have.

Yes, I think you're right. I probably downloaded .dll instead of .exe or maybe I was supposed to do both. I dunno.. I'll figure it all out eventually.

I do plan to buy a new computer. This one is spectacularly craptastic.. an emachine. I've had driver problems since it was brand new, always restarting when I'm in the middle of something. I just don't know what brand to get, but I think I've saved up enough to get a fairly decent one, especially for what I use a comp for... which is hanging out on message boards, banking, and stuff like that.

Looks like Audacity wants you to show it where the dll is. Take anything, then go to "save as mp3," and it should ask for where lame_enc.dll is.

I figured it out. I downloaded the dll file but not the exe.. so there was nothing to extract. i r retarded.. anyway it's working now.
