Monkees lead singer and OG teen idol Davy Jones died this morning from a heart attack, confirms his rep. Jones was the very dreamy breakout star of the late sixties made-for-TV boy band the Monkees, who brought you classics like "Daydream Believer," "Stepping Stone," and "I'm a Believer." You may also remember him as that guy who took Marcia Brady to the prom. He was 66.

I has a sad.

OMG!

so sad.:(

:(

RIP

I loved him SO MUCH, when I was about 8 or 9yrs old/

That is sad. :(

Still more live Monkeys than Beatles.

Something to think about.

Jones first wife was from Portsmouth, and he lived with her here. His first two children with her went through local schools with some of my friends who know the family quite well. It's very sad, and was completely out of the blue.

No one could play the tambourine like Davy Jones!

There was a documentary (of sorts... one of those low budget, potted history types) about boybands on tv the other day and he was featured in it quite a bit. Seemed like a nice bloke. And 66's really pretty young these days.

Viva la revolution.

I always wanted to monkee around with them!

I remember watching the show on Nickelodean when I was but a wee bairn.

The show still airs on AntennaTV (digital broadcast & cable) in the US on weekends, usually late afternoon.

I used to watch it too, but now I can't recall a single plotline.

Usually Davy Jones having trouble with the ladies.

There are a few episodes on YouTube. I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy them like I did when i was a kid!

I watched and I literally remember them just running around a lot.

On the sand.

And rescuing princesses.
