How do the British view Richard Dawkins?

I know he's hated and reviled in the states for trying to push the idea to academia that we should call evolution a law instead of a theory, because the bible is obviously proof that there's some scientific doubt to his fantastical claims.

He's had a handful of documentaries about how we'd be better off without religion and religious teaching in schools, and he pops up in nature programs from time to time to explain how various attributes of an animal prove evolution to be correct. But I wouldn't say he's really on most people's radar as a famous personality. Possibly because to a large extent, he's preaching to the choir, as it were. He's certainly not hated by a large proportion.

Personally, I agree with most things he says (and I mean his world view, not just the science), but I really wish he'd be a little less ranty. If I were religious, but inclined to be swayed by the science, his attitude would be enough to make me question again if he was really that rational in his thinking, and by that token, whether his arguments were worth taking into any consideration.

He has a cuntish way of speaking. It's a shame because I agree with everything he's ever said ever.
