I'm late to the party on this as well but finally got around to it (The American version with Kevin Spacey) and I literally sat there and watched 10 hours in a row. It's highly addictive.

I never read the books or watched the original British series but I think the old meme about the yanks not being able to adapt British series is long dead at this point. Anyone else watch it?

Okay, to be honest I watched the first season and I didn't find it to be the level of like Breaking Bad or Orange Is The New Black or Game Of Thrones or Mad Men or any other top level show it gets mentioned alongside. I liked it well enough to finish the season and Kevin Spacey is obviously a very good actor and was always watchable, but it didn't really grab me. Then season two...I quit after I think four episodes because it was so bad. There was some weird Japanese sex ring plot or something and I just had to ask myself "why am I watching this if I don't enjoy it?" so I gave up. It didn't help that one of the better characters from season one wasn't in season two after a certain point. So can't really say I'm a fan but sometimes I don't like things!

House of Cards is pretty bad.

The original british series is good.
