How long to wait at EI

OK, the following duals under my command, have the following approx. post counts:

1) 800 posts
2) 350 posts
3) 1 post

How long should I wait until I actively start posting under these duals. One of them, has an ongoing PM exchange with a mod and helped participate in the "witch" hunt.

I haven't been following this long, but I'd say right away. If you give them a breather, they might come to their senses.

Well, yeah, I'll admit that's a bit of a stretch. Still, the iron is hot.

It's a mixed bag. One of my classes is really small, which is fine with me, but there will be talk for the next week about whether or not it'll actually make, so I'll be worried about losing it.

Which has me worried about next year. Our enrollment is down in a big way. And I don't have tenure.

I can't do EI. I just don't have the patience. It's too much like the crap I have to put up with at the university, what with speech codes and shit.

the best way is to post and play in the RPG section. People become friends quickly with you there.

Mwah ha ha ha ha

My 850 post counter is up to 900 now

Do that and you're certain to get the 14-year-old girls leaping to your defense when you get banned.

See, for example, Niki Blue.

LOL. They have a rule, which most boards do, that you can't pass on messages from suspended posters. Of course they allowed it here. I'm gonna ask BDM if he can do the same for me. Let's see the reaction.

OMG Darth - now i have to go and look in the rp forum to find out if your yanking everyones chain or telling the truth ;) Bad darth

Wow. You've turned into a real mod nazi. Now that I've had a chance to read through all the SL threads, I can't beleive you actually voted for my perma ban :( I didn't fall for your reluctantly have to do it schtict.

It's OK. I still love ya'

Fuck off Darth - I am no mod nazi and you know that - if you've read ALL the threads you'll know that.

Love you too Darth ;)

I did not get all of the threads there. I meant now that I have read through all that I have. So sorry if I offended you. This is a trying time, being shunned by an entire community. I ask that you give me some lee way. My therapist said to just let me be.

You didn't offend me at all and you aren't being shunned by a whole community, I was pleasantly surprised by how many fans you have. I have no problem with you and I have no problem with TK - now let's kiss and make up and I can get back to Karma whoring ;)

Speech codes at Uni? i have been away for a while! Explain!

Hi, Neon. It'd take awhile to explain them all, but basically we need to be certain not to offend anyone, and the one taking offense is the one who gets to decide whether or not you meant to give offense.

Take a look at this organization's website:

http://www.thefire.org

They merged with an older site called speechcodes.org.

The map of the US in the right hand sidebar is point and clickable, and it will take you to the universities in that state whose speech codes have been investigated. Each university gets a green, yellow, or red rating. I think some get a blue rating, too. Blue means that they have placed some other principle above all else, a principle which guarantees freedom of speech. If I'm remembering correctly.

Read around FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) and see what sorts of cases they've involved themselves in. That will give you an idea of what sort of crap goes on on college campuses these days.

The kids have gotten very sheep like. In my day, most have the frat and sorority activity was gone due to lack of interest. most of us were mavericks and not alligned with any groups, ergo creating our own auras. We rose and fell upon our own merits, not because we were so weak as to allign with something.

Well, they don't want any of their preconceived notions challenged. That's the first part of the problem. Confronting them with ideas they are uncomfortable with has become, in the minds of some, harrassment.

And, since they generally come pre-programmed with the far-left agenda of their high school teachers, the ideas they don't want to hear are often (though not always) either conservative or ones which question the sacred truths of leftism.

So they ask the university to protect them from ever having to encounter such ideas. The university appears all too happy to comply.

Which is why this discussion really doesn't derail the ExIsle discussion. ;)
