Unluckiest Charm in the Box
How long do you keep your computer on average, before tossing it for a newer one?

I usually try to go for at least 3-5 years!

Mine is 6 or 7 years old now, hard to believe! I've replaced my monitor, added a memory card, new keyboard, new Sony dvd rewriter...although it just broke down so I had to put the original rewriter back in. I'm still using XP & have upgraded to the highest service pack available. I still do the routine security updates. My computer works fine, I manage to keep it virus clean & all is well, but I would love to get a new one if my financial situation were better.

My last PC was kicking ass for about 3 1/2 years. My GF uses it now (hers was quite a bit older) and it's still kind of rocking. Only upgrades I'm looking to make on my new machine would be more ram and a couple new graphics cards and some liquid cooling so I can squeeze some extra juice out of the CPU.

I average about 3 years between new purchases.

I upgraded to a Win7 laptop this year, but my old WinXP laptop is still running okay. Usually it should have died by now.

My Macs lasted longer before upgrading, but I haven't bought a Mac since 2002 so it's a moot point.

Mine is 4 years old or so, I have an upgraded hard drive (250G) and a new keyboard. I really, really need a new graphics card and more RAM because when I'm 3d modeling sometimes it barely stays alive.

At home we had a computer for 10 years. Kinda sad when we got rid of it.

I haven't updated in a few years. But, when I bought this one I had it improved to fit my needs. I want a 52" monitor so when I'm playing UO the monsters will be really, really big!
