I don’t think using AI in writing papers is wrong!

In finishing one of my masters requirements I was struck by how tedious the requirements were in no AI usage. This is especially ridiculous as the task was in writing a project plan, something in my day to day work life I and many of my colleagues explicitly use AI tools like ChatGTP on because it’s just so much quicker and more efficient to get it done, and reduces chances of making mistakes.

While I totally understand why you would not want to encourage 100% usage of AI tools as the student is there to learn, the fact is most papers are tedious and frequently have word count requirements that are little more than ensuring 2 paragraph answers turn into 20.

Well I ended up hybrid, I wrote most of the project plan myself but they could fuck off at me writing any of the requirements lists without using ChatGTP. Im not spending 2 hours doing exactly what a 1 minute prompt will generate for me.

You realize it still takes work to do that right? You still have to come up with the project requirements and all the information. It’s not lazy to have that then fed to a AI to generate lists. Its smart.
