I hate that "Cake in an ocean" song or whatever the fuck it is

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
I don't know. I just hear the same few seconds of it all the time. It sound stupid. Something about a cake. Fuck today's pop songs. IN MY DAY WE HAD UB40 AND WE WERE HAPPY.

This video used to scare the shit out of me when I was a child.

Do today's music videos scare children? FUCK NO. They just teach them to twerk, probably. Fuck today's music videos probably.

Again I've only heard the same five seconds "na na na na cake eats an ocean" bit so it probably is a good pop song if it got stuck in my head so easily.

BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN I'M PRETENDING TO BE A GRUMPY OLD MAN.

EVEN MADONNA WAS GOOD IN THE EIGHTIES.

But of the message-y songs, I liked this one better.

I don't really care if she keeps the baby or not, but YOU CAN SEE HER NIPPLE!

BTW I love how all the Jonas Brothers started out as Christians with purity rings, and now they're all doing underwear photo shoots, competing with each other to be the biggest gay icon LOL.

The "purity rings" thing was the only thing I remembered about them before this. And also Nick was the one in Scream Queens who was gay except he was only pretending to be gay even though there was no reason for that other than Scream Queens being a poorly written tv show. Two things.

Confirmed (ish)

Here's my mind-blowing fact about Duran Duran that no one seems to know: The bald animatronic head in the Wild Boys video is made from a life cast of the then largely unknown actor Patrick Stewart (a cast taken for the film Lifeforce, the makeup FX team worked on both). There! You will never look at that video the same way ever again. It's so obvious once you know.

I was so surprised that I'd never heard this factoid that I had to go to one of my Facebook friends to confirm its accuracy: Russell Mulcahy.

His response: "Wow! I am not sure. The 'head' was offered to me at some point, but your theory sounds plausible, as I was on set of Lifeforce visiting my friend Tobe Hooper and I did borrow one prop. You will never guess..."

I was surprised when I heard it too, there is nothing about it on the net. I found out about a year ago in a chat with someone who'd worked for Bob Keen and Nick Maley, the makeup fx guys for both Lifeforce and The Wild Boys vid and the dates work - this was on a Facebook site called P.E.G. Practical Effects Group where a ton of old FX folk and fans of the art hang out, check it out they have amazing behind the scenes pictures of things like prototypes for E.T. and lots from Dune and Aliens.
Anyway, there was definitely a cast taken of Stewart (the bit in Lifeforce where he bleeds through mouth, nose and eyes) and the more you look at that head in the video the more it can't be anything else. The guy who I chatted to (sorry can't for the life of me remember his name) also said that Stewart got quite a shock when he saw the vid at the time then became a bit narked that he didn't get anything for it, but that could have just been a bit of embroidery to quite an old story.
