In Bruges

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
In Bruges was the opening night film of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

weird. very dark, and at times very funny.

Saw it last night - some scenes are still staying with me today.

a British and Irish film directed and written by Martin McDonagh. The film stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as hitmen in hiding, with Ralph Fiennes as their gangster boss. The film takes place within the beautiful Belgian city of Bruges, and has complex themes about loyalty and principles...and an twisty ending.

it is worth watching - Ralph Fiennes as the really bad tempered (but principled, and honourable - according to his own lights-) Bossman is chilling in his moral certainty...that's what makes him the true tragic figure in all this.

And even tho I have always considered Colin Farrell more as eye candy than an Actor, (and I am willing to change that; let me know if he's been fabulous in something and I'll watch it) he does a really good job in this, as does the other hit man, Brendan Gleeson.
The supporting cast was excellent, and the writing is soooo good.
