Do they ever tell you who the first vampire was, and how they became a vampire?

I'm only up to the one where Eric said Godwin was his maker, and Godwin was 2000 years old.

Because if the only way to become a vampire is to be bitten by one, who made the first one?

They haven't said anything in the books. The myth I've always heard is that Lilith was Adam's first wife, but she was evil and God banished her from Eden before Eve ever ate the apple. Lilith was pregnant and her children were the first vampires.

There is no mention of the origin of the Vampyre in the True Blood canon.
