RIP Karl 1991-2014
Late last afternoon (or last night, if you'd prefer. It was 6 PM anyway) I was smoking out of my new 45" hookah with a friend and watching Weeds. My life is a lot like Weeds; I've even got the Prius. For some reason, I popped a Provigil (similar to medicinal cocaine) before heading off to my English class at 7:30. English was boring, as usual. My class is full of Mexicans, Indians, Orientals, and the like, so it's a fair bet that I'm the only native speaker. Anyway, I doodled in the margins while the Provigil started to touch me. Meanwhile, the professor droned on about some boring shit that I already know, and I watched the clock. Well, I didn't just watch the clock. I was also doodling. And reading some essays from the textbook. Provigil (stimulants in general) really make multitasking easier. You can do tons of stuff at once without even really being aware of it. For me, that's really the biggest draw. 8:40 came along and we were going on a twenty minute break. I headed for the restroom. It was disgusting, as always. There were fifteen minutes left until class resumed, so in the cold dark, I went and sat by the turtle pond. None of the turtles were out. I mean, it was almost nine PM in the winter, of course the turtles were sleeping or something. Class ended at 9:40 and I drove home. My friend from earlier was still there, watching Groundhog Day. I was ravenously hungry, so I sauntered into my kitchen and prepared a turkey burger with mozzarella cheese. Immediately after, I scarfed the thing (and it was big) down in like twenty seconds. Groundhog Day was ending at about this point. Dan left to go home. I came up to my computer and browsed the internet for a while, then tried to go to sleep. Impossible! I had only taken Provigil once before, and afterward I couldn't sleep for two days. Nonetheless, I tried for a few hours before going downstairs, eating a Bosc pear, reading the assignment from my English book, and watching Hedwig and the Angry Inch with commentary. That finished about half an hour ago; I'm back at my computer now. Still not the slightest inkling of sleep.
