I watched on 60 Minutes where Donald Rumsfeld was out there running alongside the stretchers, helping people from the wreckage and into the ambulances. His aides wanted to usher him away to safety. "Nonsense," he said. He was there to help.

I've read a lot of negative things about Rumsfeld (include some surprising critiques from the Right), but what he did that day goes a long way with me. He's a man, and he cares about his job and the people he sends into harms way.
