Is "Internet Pornographer" a Moral Profession????

What do you think? Is "Internet Pornographer" a moral/honorable profession? Argue your case and I will argue against you.

From the standpoint of someone who believes pornography itself is not an honorable or moral profession, I'd say no. You'd have to define moral or honorable in a profession.

Personally, I think a garbageman has more morals and honor. To me, Internet Pornographers (IP from now on, fucking words) are no more or less M&H than the regular brand.

Ah, but it is. There are people living quiet, sheltered lives in places like Des Moines, Iowa; maybe working at McDonalds and with no hope of every meeting a girl. And IPs are providing them a valuable service.

And it isn't like anyone is being victimized. The girls on the websites know what they are doing and they are well-compensated for sharing an essentially pleasurable experience. Heck, would that I could make a nice income for having sex on a regular basis for hours at a time.

Online pornography gives everyone what they want--the lonely/kinky guy gets to watch his dreams fulfilled, the talent gets well compensated for fairly easy and pleasurable work, and the pornographer makes a tidy profit that allows him/her to provide better and better production values.

Heck, pornographer is a noble profession, linking people with a supply with consumers with a demand.

Yep, I'd agree that it's a honourable job. Matching supply and demand and all they take is a modest share of the profit.

They give an opportunity to young talented girls to market their skills and, as Volpone so elaborately pointed out, there's demand for the work they do.

Besides, they piss off feminists and Christians which makes them cool in my book.

The pissing off Christians angle is certainly the most compelling argument. The rest is no more or less moral than any other line of work.

That depends on if you're going to label jobs as inherently moral or immoral. Is my job moral? I have no clue, it's just a job. The only time these things come into play is if your job either involves altruism (Like working for the red cross) or doing harm to others (such as being a soldier). But a normal job? Nothing inherently moral or immoral about a 9-5 desk job. It is inherently lawful-neutral, in D&D terms.

If he is then so am I, as I'm currently discussing with my gf whether she'd look sexier in a black or white teddy....

Sigh...July's a long way away.... :(

You just want her OUT of it... check the wisdom in post 13 of this thread.....

Ugly chicks are the reason MEN invented beer. We don't need all that fru-fru-, ass-slimming lingerie and cosmetic crap, it just makes it harder to get you all naked.

Now I am not suggesting your young lady is an ugly chick, I saw her photo. I'm just saying as a male, your objective is to get the lady naked.

;)

Yeah, but I do like a bit of teasing beforehand ;)

J. Allen most certainly is my kind of Christian. ;)
If more of them were like him, I might like more of them. Just thought I'd throw this out there. :P

This isn't a basis to judge nobility on. A crack dealer is also providing a buzz to someone with a shitty life. And IPs probably aren't concerned with the lives of the customers anymore than dealers.

Again, not a basis on which to judge nobility.

The problem is that the terms discussed are too relative. One man's noble doctor is another man's child killer.

For example, a doctor performing an abortion in a dictatorship with laws forbidding it, on a woman who is pregnant due to the result of incestuous rape at the risk of his own livelihood might be considered noble. Now what about the fetus from the perspective of someone who believes it is alive from conception?

Or a hitman hired to kill someone in debt to his employer, a who never agrees to kill women and children?
