Is Locke's mistake thinking that the island is GOOD?

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
The island healed Locke after the crash, and every since then he's been all "this island is a wonderful place of fun and oranges!" and doing whatever the island asks for him. But "fixing people" seems to just be something the island does, a side effect of its unique properties. It doesn't seem like an act of kindness. So what if the island itself, its "spirit" (Jacbo? Smoke Monster?) is actually EVIL? It killed Eko (granted he'd done some bad things but why was it up to the island to judge him?) apparently ordered Locke to kill Naomi (who, as far as we know, was good) and probably did other bad stuff too. Maybe Locke will eventually realise this and stab the island's heart with his hunting knife or something?

Locke will probably find god at the center of the island, god will have many faces, but this one suits him best, and then he will have Locks face, then Jack will have to order a photon torpedo to be fired onto their locations aka, Sawyer will slap either side of Hurleys face so he spits out the island ranch dressing

I think it's possible that the island isn't good or evil, just self serving. Maybe Eko was about to find something out.. so the island had to kill him (or he just wanted off the show and we'll just have to wonder). Naomi and everyone on the boat are definitely threats to the island.

I'm beginning to think so too about the boat people.

Speaking of which, how many "groups" are there on this show?

1. Crash survivors
....1a. Jack's group
....1b. Locke's group
2. Others
....2a. Ben (Dharma)
....2b. Hostiles
........2bi. where do Hostiles come from? Descendants of the Black Rock?
3. Dharma/Hanso (Tall black African dude? Widmore?)
4. Boat People (Tall black African dude? Widmore?)
5. Ben/Sayid group (Dharma? Boat people?)

I JUST WANT TO KNOW OK OMG

Then Locke hugs Jack and they're friends again.

"John, please, not in front of the Others!"

The island fixed the airline pilot and Mr. Eko.

It fixed 'em real good.

stupidest fan theory: the pilot who died on the island was an alternate universe pilot from the one Frank was watching on tv, as he didn't have a moustache.

Like it's not possible to SHAVE A MOUSTACHE OFF.

On the island, the mustache shaves you.

when Ben shoots Locke into the pit with dead bodies in it, why didn't he shoot him in the head TO MAKE SURE HE WAS DEAD, because he knows that the island has healed Locke before and might do so again?

There's some unspoken law in fiction where no character that the writer(s) might want to live ever gets shot in the head, even if they're getting shot by someone who is good with guns, really wants them dead and realy should just know better.

I think they might be right. Wasn't he also the co-pilot when we saw him in the first episode?

To me, the mustache seemed like a very deliberate way of showing that something had changed. Possibly due to Desmond's time traveling.

No, it was so people wouldn't say "hey, it's Matt from Heroes!" (Instead they said "hey, it's Matt from Heroes...with a moustache!"

Ben has poor luck with shooting people, failing to kill Locke and Charlotte within a few days (UNLESS HE WANTED THEM TO LIVE OMG)
