It's crazy - the Earth is monitored and measured regularly by satellites. Nothing has changed to suppot such a mad theory.

I propose the Earth is in fact, a giant whoopee cushion. Adams may be a respected artist, but clearly his ageing brain has been addled somewhere down the line!

Actually the Earth is always "expanding" because of all the space dust that falls to Earth everyday.
