Is there a word for this?

That sudden pain in your big toe when you think something is sticking in it, but when you look, its just a peice of your own skin thats coming away, and catching on your sock?

I do have one of those on my fingers that went halfway down the nail, but the thing I talking about is square in the middle of the underneath of my toe.

Yeah, but it says in the UK that's what hangnails are known as, like we all go round saying "cor blimey, guv, you ain't gunna apple n eve it, I only got a bleedin stepmuvva's blessin', ain't I?"

We just call them hangnails.
