Exactly.

OK, I was reasonably sure that Tristian was StarMan, due to, among other things, his style of posting. It is unmistakeable. However, IN SPITE OF THAT, I let him keep posting. Even though he has been permanently banned.

Why? Like so many others, I hoped he really was coming to just relax and post and not make trouble. And like many others, when he behaves, I like StarMan.

I noticed lots of low-level trolling (what I would consider trolling) right away. But there was no trouble, so I just monitored things.

Well yesterday was "the trick". After I found it what it was, I thought, "Well, let me look and see who has been doing this." I went and looked. Almost everyone who had tried, had done it 1-5 times max. I'm assuming they were just trying it out.

However, Tristian's name appeared time and time again. In my cursory look (and limited time frame), I saw at least 250 times.

It seemed very much to me that StarMan was back to his usual self, and given that he was back on what I considered a probation, I pulled the plug.

He was banned (from the research I just did) back in early 2002. The mods who wish the exact date, etc will look at Apr 19 2002 information. Furthermore, a search in announcements shows that directly after he resigned his moderatorship (for the second time) in Nov 2001, he started right away getting warned and in trouble. And he did not do it just under StarMan, but under duals, more than one.

The permanent banning came as a result of two things - he spammed up the board at one point, I think it was the VOY forum, and he exposed private stuff between he and Lisa back then. If memory serves, he did even more graphic things at the other BBS we had back then, but I'd have to check with C on that.

So he came back here. Didn't ask to come back, just snuck in under a dual. And then, started doing dodgy stuff. So given all of the facts, is there any question why I threw the switch?

Had he behaved, I would have let it go. I HAD been letting him post, even though I was pretty damned sure it was StarMan and I see from many posts that many of you definitively knew it was him.

So I think I was as fair as I could be, given the circumstances. I like the StarMan who is funny and creative, but when he starts his crap (and he never seems to be able to refrain from doing so ), I see no reason to tolerate it. He got his second chance, as I knew for weeks that it was him. He blew it.

BTW: Who was harmed?

I've got banned over something the administration profusely says doesn't matter.

Banned permanently.

A week/month stand down with a thwack to my post count I could understand, but this is an unmeasured and knee-jerk response.

I have contributed to the community in a positive and (not to sound immodest) entertaining way - I would think that's all that should matter. It hasn't been a forced exercise on my part as some grand scheme to infiltrate and "troll". I really was enjoying myself. So I boosted my post count so I could chill with my old admiral friends in the lounges sooner rather than later? Honestly, is it *that* big a deal that I'm to be sent to the abyss forever?

On the subject of returning "sneakily": I didn't intend to stick around. I registered out of interest and was surprised my registration had been successful. I started contributing and before I knew it I was "hooked" (again!). I had thought about fessing up to you on numerous occasions. Why didn't I? I was afraid you'd boot me, to be frank. I dropped hints to others and eventually it became a bit of a running joke - everyone who knew me back "in the day" knew it was me.

You're dredging up stuff from the past that is sooooo water under the bridge. I am not the same disgruntled teen I was when I first registered and should not be judged as such in the present.

As I said in my email to you, I got carried away and I again apologise to you for it. What disturbs me is the tone of your post. You're making me out to be this awful person who's a potential *threat* or something.

I haven't spammed, trolled, flamed; I haven't made light of anyone's death on a funeral website, posted hateful material under the guise of debate or registered single dual, like so many others do.

I'm sorry you've felt it necessary to do this ... I'll miss the place.
