Jack: What was THIS all about?

I was there when he did that actually, he accused Groth of rape, then deleted it like a pussy when he was called on it.

I have no idea whether or not it's REALLY libel, but the statement created a big shitstorm, which resulted in jack editing the statement out of his posts. IIRC, Gorth made some statement or other. Lots of other stuff happened too. That thread is entertaining to read.

Well, either it's true, or it's libel, and that's what a trial would determine. Having observed Vap's nutso shenanigans for many years, I think it's a pretty safe bet that he made it up out of whole cloth.
 
Well, if it's true that he heard this, then whoever told him this could be called to account. If he made it up, and said that he "heard" it to protect himself, it's libel.

Even if he DID hear it somewhere else, it could still be libel, since Vap is the one who published this defamatory statement to the web.

If it could be established that Vap KNEW the statement to be false before he posted it, this would constitute "actual malice," which would sink Vap deeper into a world of shit.

The fact that this statement about Groth is still being posted and discussed over a year since the original publication, to an entirely different message board, means that the libel is ongoing: it's not too late for Groth to sue Vap.

The only thing Vap has working in his favor is that he is a penniless ne'er-do-well piece of shit who lives in a broken-down shack out in the sticks; Groth would have to be bugfuck derange-o to sue Vap, knowing that victory in court would win him two heaping scoops of nothing.

I was going to ask Groth to babysit my kid three nights a week for $10.50 an hour until I read Vap's accusation that Groth was a rapist and kid-toucher. Five months, three nights a week, four hours per night...you do the math.

Hellman knows if I was really libeling Groth, he would have sued me. I took the comments down out of respect to Veitch and the board.

That's all I'm saying about this, period.
