The "King of Pop" will play a total of 50 dates at the former Millennium Dome in Greenwich, after a further five shows were added to his already-extended run.
It follows a frenzied pre-sale on Wednesday, during which the singer's website crashed due to intense demand from fans. Many followers also camped outside the venue in an attempt to buy tickets in person.
Jackson's publicists claim that 360,000 tickets were sold in the 18-hour pre-sale – the equivalent of 20,000 tickets per hour or more than five per second. They said this represented "the fastest ticket sales in history".
They also claimed that one million tickets would be sold in all, a total which they say would set records for "the biggest audience ever to see an artist in one city" and "the most amount of people to attend a series of arena shows".
Randy Phillips, the president and CEO of AEG Live, which is promoting the concerts, said: "We knew this was show business history, but this is a cultural phenomenon... Not only are these concerts unparalleled, these records will never be broken."
Wow..
