Worth watching? I just procured the first four episodes and I'm going to check 'em out now. I know what it's about and all but I don't know how popular it is or anything or whether it is especially good. With such big hitters like Lost, BSG and the the shining achievement of television that is Heroes I imagine a show like Jericho can get pushed off the radar.

Anyone watching it?

I'm five episodes in.

They're in a bar talking about highschool and who is dating who.

AND NOBODY SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE ENTIRE USA HAS JUST BEEN NUKED OFF THE FACE OF THE PLANET.

That's the thing though. It should be.

The premise is great. The execution of that premise...meh

I'll stick it out a little longer. I've heard the second half of the season picks up a lot more. We shall see.

I have never been huge into the whole post apocalypitic stuff, so my view may be colored a bit.

From the little ive seen, it may get better (but I can not say for sure).

The idea of a small town being cut-off from the rest of society due to a nuclear holocaust is pretty interesting. It opens up a huge amount of possibility from a dramatic standpoint. Dealing with coming to terms with a post apocalyptic world and surviving in it and trying to find out information on the national and global situation. That's a great base for a decent team of writers to craft a show around.

Unfortunatly, so far they haven't done the premise justice at all. The fact that the world has just been plunged into nuclear war and that most of the US has been razed to the ground seems to be an after thought in most scenes. They're putting out a fire at a library at the moment (which has taken about 15 minutes of time) in the episode I'm watching and most of the discussions seem split between the town politcs (mildy interesting) and inane soap opera interacting of the characters (ZZZzzzz). Riveting.

That said I do still see untapped potential in the show. It has some decent characters so if the writers start writing high-concept stuff and lay off the music montages and soap opera relationships then it may go somewhere.

Most post-apocalyptic stories are just WRONG in how they proceed.

Any surviving government and probably those which form would be Fascistic and dedicated solely towards the survival of the human race. A close second goal would be to ensure its own survival against other human threats.

I don't think I've ever seen post-apocalyptic storytelling of that sort.
