Katie Couric: Yea or Nay?

She's all abuzz on the tabloids trash news programs on TV. Meridith Viera is taking her spot on the Today show in May, and Katie is headed to be the first female evening news anchor on CBS.

Katie will do OK after a slow, stumbly start.

It's Viera that bugs me. She seems phony, I don't think she'll go over well on Today.

Yeah, I'm glad to see gummy bunny (Katie) go do something else but not so sure how she will be recieved as a serious news anchor on her own. She could never hold a long interesting serious anything on the Today Show. IMO She also really gets under my skin in certain segments of the show daily that I actually enjoyed it when she was on vacation last week.

I like Merideth Viera, I think she will bring a new dimension to the Today Show. She has alot of years of being a reporter and polished quality. But only time will tell of course.

Although I personally think CBS would have been smarter to have scored Merideth for that anchor position.

You really should have included a "Fuck No" option in your poll. This is just another step toward the complete infotainmentization of American TV news organizations. Local newscasts are a complete joke, and the big three nightly newscasts aren't much better and are getting worse all the time. Newscasts should be about reporting the news, not "cuteness", sensationalism, popularity or ratings. I don't care about Katie's colonoscopy, or that every food you eat these days is going to give you cancer and kill you, or whether or not Prince Harry cavorting with strippers is a bad thing!
