I just want to clear the air, and make sure people aren’t reading between the lines, because whenever I do that, I always end up with the wrong end of the stick.
When I put Flexo and Boba Fett in, I didn’t expect them to stay there, that’s what I thought the discussion thread was for, you defend your choices a bit, but ultimately let them go if they don’t have a place there.
I knew they were both on dodgy ground because of how few episodes they were in, but I had in my mind ways of defending them, because for me Flexo was very memorable, only two episodes from 100 but he stays in the memory, and Boba Fett, he might be a movie character, but his very first appearance was in the star wars holiday special on TV, and if Empire had never been made, or any of the sequels, then he would only have ever been a TV character.
If I had got chance to say all that and then people still didn’t want them in, I would have said fair enough.
I was never upset with Wacky for wanting them gone, I understood the top 100 characters should be true icons of the genre.
And I wasn’t picking on John or attacking him for his choice of the bounty hunter from firefly.
I was just trying to point out the same rules that invalidated both of my choices also applied to his, because he was only in one episode.
If he deserved a place based on his one outing because he was such a memorable character, then you could easily say the same for Flexo.
I love using my mind for debate, it’s the one muscle we could all use to exercise more often, but because I have an opposite view from another person in the debate it does not mean I don’t like that other person, or seek to hurt them or their feelings.
I thought we were having fun.
