Obama or Bush?

Obama has now placed himself as the figurehead black man on the Amistad II. This definitely makes him a prime target for white supremacists everywhere. Also, I'm sure that plenty of white upper-middle class 'closet' racists aren't too happy about all this. There's plenty of animosity towards our new Nigger elect.

Also, Mr. Dubya Bush is now without the major protection of his Secret Service entourage. This means that not only will he be a lame duck, he'll be a sitting one as well. There are thousands of angry Muslims, ex-soldiers, and uber-liberals that would love to be squeezing that trigger. Not only that, but there are plenty of other countries in the world who I'm sure are willing to pay to have him removed as a resolution to a vendetta.

Therefore, I think we should take bets on who's gonna get sniped first.

If you'd like to take it further, we can do a spread or a pool.

Taking bets on the day or span of time it takes for one of them to get popped.

We should let eloisel, Cassie, or Curiousa2z hold the money for us. I think we can all agree they're probably the most trustworthy of all of us.

I say Obama in under a year. I'm good for $50. I say $50 because that should be the minimum buy-in.

I think Bush still gets protection through his whole lifetime, 'though I don't know how reduced.

And I'm not taking that bet.
 
At minimum two secret service agents. That's what the taxpayers fund. Any other additional security comes from his own pocket. I'm sure his daddy's gonna cough-up the dough for a few extras.
 
Bush is minted. He won't have much in the way of diminished protection I'd wager.

And I think some nut-job probably will have a pop at Obama at some point in the future. I just hope they don't succeed.
 
Every President has a certain number of nutjobs who take a shot. Now, because Obama is black, every whiff of a nutjob will get huge media coverage and make it seem even more disproportionate than it already is/will be.
 
How long do former presidents receive Secret Service protection after they leave office?

In 1965, Congress authorized the Secret Service (Public Law 89-186) to protect a former president and his/her spouse during their lifetime, unless they decline protection. In 1997, Congress enacted legislation (Public Law 103-329) that limits Secret Service protection for former presidents to 10 years after leaving office. Under this new law, individuals who are in office before January 1, 1997, will continue to receive Secret Service protection for their lifetime. Individuals elected to office after that time will receive protection for 10 years after leaving office. Therefore, President Clinton will be the last president to receive lifetime protection.

I have not found a limit on the number of agents assigned to the protection of a former president and first lady. I imagine they use as many as it takes to feel they adequately protect the persons they are assigned to protect.
 
I am not undermining the fact that Obama might face the danger of assassination, but for the most part, this "yeah he's elected, but he'll get assassinated soon" mantra is a massive case of hysterical parroting. It's like, all of a sudden, everyone figured it out. I may understand Democrat supporters proliferating this kind of memes for the sake of garnering sympathy towards Obama, but frankly, this is ridiculous.
