Life on Mars-Canceled!

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
Didn't watch this show, but a couple of my friends kept bugging me to watch it. They swore it would be right up my alley. I'm sure it is. But I told them, I'm pretty much done watching new shows on the major networks. Once lost is done, that'll be it for ABC. When Chuck, Heroes, & Life are inevitably canceled, no mo' NBC. Don't watch any CBS, and I won't because the only thing that won't get canceled is a new iteration of CSI. When "24" is done next year, that'll be it for Fox.

I'll stick with TNT, Showtime, FX, etc. Their shows don't need a huge audience, and are allowed to grow. I'm sick of getting invested in a show, only for it to be cancelled after half a season.

Still, I like the fact that Life on Mars will be allowed to finish its run, and wrap things up. I wish more networks would pre-plan for a show to have a set run. Not only would it make pretty much every episode a good one, it would allow viewers to feel like they're making a smaller committment to a show.

I mean, let's face it, as much as I LOVED Veronica Mars, season 3 was just so-so.

I think I'll wait until this summer, and download the whole series of Life on Mars.

I totally agree with you about not trusting the networks! Unless the MF is a planning to watch a new show, I don't even bother. I'd rather watch the stuff about the universe on the History channel than get into a show that gets canceled.

I've started watching several series on Showtime and HBO. Most of them are really interesting.

^^Do you like The U.S. of Tara?? I'm kinda split. I like the writing and the characters, but it's almost like nothing really happens. Like, there's no progress each episode.

It's funny, but all the shows I watch these days are network shows, since The Shield and The Wire have ended. But I'm pretty much done with new shows, I'll just read more, or watch food network.

I do like United States of Tara, but I know what you mean. I keep waiting for something to happen. I think the show is about to pick up, there's the new alter, and Max is digging around in Tara's past searching for clues. I don't understand why he didn't do that a long time ago!

I also watch Secret Diaries of a Call Girl, I love it. Billie Piper is really hot, even with the giant mouth, plus she can act. I tried to get into The L Word, but it's just bitchy lesbian backstabbing drama every week and I got tired of it pretty quick.

Fuckers. How could they not give this show a chance with people like Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli in it? Plus, Jason O'Mara is HOT.

^^Because the average American viewer who watches telvision exactly when it's scheduled is a moron, who only likes easily digestible fare like Dancing With the Stars or fucking Howie Do It. In other words, something to play in the background in between commercial breaks where they run to the fridge to stuff thier fat fucking faces.

Srsly, until networks start factoring in DVR playback and digital downloads, there will be no way to truly measure an audience properly.

Watching TV shows exactly when scheduled doesn't make the viewers morons. Although watching Howie Do It does, lol I HATE HIM. The Networks allow the advertisers to dictate the programming, and I think advertisers pay for Nielsen TV Ratings. Nielsen needs to find a way to factor in DVRs and downloads, but what advertiser wants to pay for a show if everyone is fast forwarding through the commercials?

Satellite and cable companies could probably do their own research. I know there is a way that they can tell exactly what you are watching. People would most likely object to that, they don't want to feel like someone is monitoring them.

I watched like the first episode, the show seemed ok but I guess didn't hold my interest.

It will be interesting to see if they go with the same ending as they did over here for the last show.

all i have to say is RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE. CATCH IT!
