I want to smell dark matter
Rousseau. A lot of people are saying she's working with the Others and her handing over Ben to Sayid was a set-up. I don't think so. Far a start, she tortured Sayid for imformation on Alex. Okay, you say, she could have just been doing that to "fool him". What about helping Claire escape from the Others? What about trying to take Claire's baby to the Others? Her working with them would result in too many plot holes. Ben is Alex's "dad" because he adopted her when she was taken from Rousseau.
I believe Ben's capture WAS an accident. He was out wandering on his own in the jungle for a reason which will be revealed in an upcoming flashback (maybe he'd just had a fight with Alex or Juliet), he was angry and upset and forgot where he was and Rousseau got lucky. When Locke was trapped under the blast door Ben used the Swan's computer to send instructions to the Others telling them what to do with Michael. He also sent the list of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurely over the computer, purely for his own interests because he needed Jack to do the surgery on him.
Time travel. I'm not going to try and work out what happened with Desmond since I don't think we have enough information yet. I expect though that he didn't REALLY go back in time, otherwise Charlie surely would have remembered the time the crazy Scotsman told him they were trapped on an island together in the future. Desmond was simply consciously reliving his memories, he can't really change time. The mysterious voices everyone hears are no doubt connected to the time travel. Jack seems particularly susceptible to the time travelling voices, hence him hearing his father speaking over the intercom. I expect to see Jack consciously reliving his next flashback in the same way Desmond did.
WILD SPECULATION: Everyone assumes that when Walt appeared to Shannon in season two he was just projecting himself from wherever he was being held by the Others. But what if he had, in fact, travelled back in time? Perhaps when he and Michael were sailing away at the end of season 2 Walt asked his dad about what else has happened to the survivors. Michael told him about Shannon dying. Walt liked Shannon and was upset. Realising that only fools are confined by time and space, Walt attempted to travel back in time somehow (maybe Desmond activating the failsafe made it possible) and appeared to Shannon. First he tried to warn her that the castaways should keep pushing the button but it came out backwards (much like the voice in room 23!) Then he tried to warn her she was about to be shot but, ironically, his warning was actually what led her to her death in a pre-destination paradox type thingy.
WILDER SPECULATION I'M ALMOST SURE IS TRUE: Why were Nikki and Poulo introduced? I believe they have a purpose which hasn't been revealed yet. I believe that before the end of the season, they will both be physically SENT BACK IN TIME somehow and will live the rest of their lives on the island in the past. Yes, that's right, the Adam and Eve skeletons found in the caves are in fact Nikki and Poulo! I am 100% sure this will happen so remember that you heard it here first. I am also 99.5% sure that they will have a baby in the past, name it BEN and he will be taken from them by Dharma.
