Lost!!!!

Hambil

I AM A GOLDEN GOD
They killed Ana Lucia, and maybe Libby! I did not see that coming. Although I wondered why Michael was saying the 'others' lived in tents and where ready to be attacked - when we clearly suspect that isn't true. Glad Ana's gone, but I hope Libby survives.

They did a nice job keeping the secret too.

Cynthia Watros has a show on CBS next season. You do the math.

Mostly a dull ep until the very end. I'm reading that the final eps of the season will revolve around that point.

That was pretty shocking. I've seen a lot of spoilers for the last episodes and none of them mentioned anything like THAT happening.

But I think Libby will be around for a few more episodes at least. ;)

They had to do what they did...that one chick was facing a DUI charge that could put her in jail for up to 3 years. It was a smart move on the producer's part, IMO.

I didn't see it coming either, though.

Lost has pretty much become "Smallville" this season. Nothing happens except people keep sitting around re-hashing the past. Meh.

^I sometimes feel very cheated watching "Lost" especially this season. It seems that the majority of the episodes have been rather ho-hum, and right when I'm getting ready to quit watching it on a regular basis, they up and do something like this, which compels me to watch it the following week.

Evil bastards. Guess that's why they make the big bucks.

Actually, that had nothing to do with it at all. Michelle Rodriguez was only contracted for one season and was quite clear that she would move on...thus they knew Ana Lucia would die sometime this season.

Cynthia Watros, or Libby, has been offered a show on CBS for next season. You might see her again this season...I doubt those two rounds were immediately fatal...but don't look for her next season.

Remember the same thing happened in the first season...it started off good then slid down into a so-so midseason, then the shit hit the fan toward the end.

I think they've only got so much plot material and have to dole it out in the best fashion possible to bring the best ratings.

O Rly?

Let's see:

Bunker entry and take over
Revelation about the clock and the computer
The arrival of the tail section survivors and their fight against the Others
Shannon's death
Revelation about the bunker system through the map
Revelation that the Others are rather advanced and have an agenda
The Hanso Foundation scenario
Charlie's freak out and turn to the dark side
Henry Gale

I can go on...

It's been a productive season...more so than the first one.

so, 9 significant things have happened in the space of 20-odd episodes?

Look, I know they're totally different shows, but more happens in one episode of 24 or Veronica Mars than in 5-8 episodes of Lost. I guess I'm just spoiled by the two best shows on tv. :)

That's the nine I listed. I can go on in essay detail...the one or two degrees of separation most of the survivors seem to have with Jack's dad...the Others' concept of "good" and "bad" people and what they do about it...on and on and on.

I don't watch 24 or VM because they conflict with my scheduling, but you're essentially right...I'm guessing they are two seperate shows. If you're looking to sit down and be spoonfed the plot, then Lost isn't for you. It's along the same lines as why Peter Jackson wasn't more faithful to the LOTR books...they're essentially too intelligent and thoughtful for the average American...

Ah, so you immediately revert to the old defense "If you don't like my show, it must be too intelligent for you."

Sit down, watch 24 or Veronica Mars, and we'll see about being "spoon-fed" the plot. Lost is just getting boring, admit it.

Um...no. I guess I wasn't clear: it's a different kind of show that requires viewers to think and put puzzle pieces together, and that requires patience...something the average viewer lacks.

At no time did I insert your name in there, so put your dick away.

Too bad both conflict with life, or I might. I recall watching some of the first 24 series, and wasn't that impressed. VM I'm a total newb about.

As to Lost being boring, that's a subjective term.

OTOH, ratings tell a different story as to viewership, so maybe I should have more faith in my fellow humans: http://tv.yahoo.com/nielsen/

For 20-26 March, for example, we see that out of the top 20, Lost comes in at #10, 24 comes in at #19, and VM isn't on the list. Of course, American Idol is the top rated one, so maybe I'm justified after all.

IIRC, you came into the Lost game late, am I right? If that's so, you haven't caught the ambience of it like I and others have...it's like walking into a poker game after the 6th or 6th hand is being played.

Nope, I bought season one, watched it all the way through. From episodes 1-5 or so, it was riveting. The middle 10? Boring. The last 4 or 5 were excellent.

Same thing is happening this season, IMHO. I just prefer a show that advances the plot with each episode.

I was an avid "24" fan the first two seasons, but got so tired of the daughter being in constant trouble, that I quit watching it.

Every once in a while I still tune in, but if I really want to know what happens, all I have to do is be scheduled to caption "Tony Danza Show" on the Tuesday following a new episode, and he recaps it.

Thanks the gods that show is going off the air. <wg>

Lost moves along at a glacial pace (this entire season has taken place in about 3 weeks of Lostie-Time) and the endless reruns and pre-emptions don't help much, but that's okay. I have an attention span.

They're juggling about a dozen plot threads simultaneously and haven't dropped the ball on any of them as yet. Something happens in every episode, trust me.

I love Lost. I also LOVE 24, thats an awesome show, even if they go stupid every now and then.

I havent seen Veronica Mars yet, but someone's been burning it for me, so I'll get around to it, after I finish season 4 of Six Feet Under.

It wouldn't happen to have anything to do with a desire to BANG THE SCREAMING FUCK OUT OF KRISTEN BELL, WOULD IT?

If so, I understand.

If you really get down to it, no television show hits 100% out of the park. 24 in its awesome first season had a whole dragged out middle section concerning amnesia and some other hackneyed shit that the producers later admitted was there only because they had planned the arcs poorly and ran out of story before the season was over. Any seasonal-arc television show has to have its down episodes, it's the nature of storytelling to add lull periods for the reader or viewer to catch his or her breath and absorb the latest twists.

Both Lost, 24 (and I assume VM although I don't watch it) have huge developments to cover in their respective stories, but not all at once. To complain about slow builds and suspense is indicative of a mind raised on instant gratification and video games, where the action is nonstop start to finish. Learn to appreciate the quiet moments for what they are: the calm before the storm.
