Louis Theroux's LA Stories

Drama-documentaries about men who eat fast food for every meal and contest shows where amateurs are ridiculed by professionals for not being able to perform at a professional level.

Maybe it was because he couldn't actually interview half the subjects of the show, but I didn't think this was quite up to par with his usual documentaries. The turnaround with that white huskyish dog was amazing, though. That guy should get a medal. He was like the Geordie LaForge of dogs.

No, it was some other guy. He said he hasn't met a dog yet he can't fix, but maybe he was mauled to death off camera later.

The part where they told the guy he had 94% cancer was quite upsetting (I wonder if he would have agree to be filmed if he'd known the news would be that bad.)

The wedding and the guy who was being sent home for the continuation of his treatment path made me well up a little. Really sad to see people so young who have virtually no hope. I don't think I would've watched it all the way through if it hadn't been with Louis. He was kind of a comforting factor.

Bit awkward when the doctor hugged the guy who she'd suggested should have his life support switched off.

That's totally not what "you can't con a con" means.

This reminded me of the one he did about paedos once where you sometimes feel a bit sorry for them but then remember "hang on, he did WHAT?" Maybe it's SEXIST but I felt like the one woman featured seemed like the most genuinely regretful and the most capable of going back to a normal life. But she still had sex with a kid.

It was difficult viewing at times but it did make you think. Ultimately there doesn't seem to be a neat solution, since some people on the list are very unlikely to reoffend, while others can never be trusted again. I felt sorry for the woman, too, but I agreed with the parole officer that I wouldn't let her anywhere near any 14 year old boys.

I hope Louis does something cheerful next. Maybe talk to the Chuckle Brothers.
