At the end of a Matter of Time Picard tells Rasmussen that as soon as the door of his pimp-o time machine was open the computer was able to deactivate all the stolen items that he took from the ship.

So why the FUCK didn't they just do that on the NUMEROUS occasions some bastard/s was armed with a phaser on the ship.

Rick, you had a good episode till you fucking wrote that fucking GAY FUCKING LINE THAT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE YOU FUCKING HACK.

No, the computer can only disable weapons specifically from the Enterprise or starfleet standard issue or whatever, and even then someone can fiddle with the phaser and remove that disabling ability. Prof didn't know enough about the future or anything to do what all those other misguided enemies of the Federation did.

Yes I know that it can only disable Starflet standard issue but I could bring up a long list of events where the enemy of the week has been using starfleet weapons. I also seriously doubt that ALL hostiles who have done so have enough knowledge to override this function on the fly.

IOW ITS STUPID.

I will happily attempt to explain away any inconsistencies of which you have examples.

Maybe it isn't Starfleet standard that the computer can disable. Maybe it's just the weapons assigned to the Enterprise.

Is Data's penis a weapon?

Ok, take Power Play for example. Troi, Data and O'Brien are possessed and take hostages using weapons from the Enterprise. Since the possesion does not lend them the knowlege or experience of the crewmembers and they would not have been familiar with phasers of these kind they would not have been able to deactivate them since I doubt it's very easy to do without the know how.

Why didn't they just turn their phasers off from the bridge?

Because i'ts stupid and it limits opportunities for other epoisodes where similar things have happened many, many times. Thats why.

But remember how the guy in OBrien remembered things about Keiko? I bet they mind-raped them for useful information. Tech stuff, stats, but didn't really go looking for personal info as much. That's how'd they disable the security stuff (ship computer deactivating weapons) but not be able to accurately predict how the rest of the crew would deal with it.

No.

It was nothing but coincidence that O'Brien took Keiko hostage. They did not know anything about their hosts minds and no mind raping took place (admittidely a shock since Troi is a major player, how many times she been mind raped now?)

And anyway, the deactivation of Phasers and the ease with which the Enterprise Computer was able to deactivate Phasers, tricorders, medical apparatus and one of Geordi's visors is ridiculous.

Admit the stupidity of the line that has been contradicted by a huge amount of episodes. Rick Berman wrote Matter of Time and hell, it's a good episode. Nice script as well except for that fucking feeble ending.

I liked Data's hollow threat about Rasmussen needing to be conscious when opening the panel.

He gave The Big Goodbye 2 stars? Yeah, he really doesn't have a clue. That is one awesome episode. Someone should make a Cyrus Redblock dual.

Have you seen some of Jammer's TOS reviews? He gives Arena half a star or something crazy like that. He just doesn't get it.

Yeah, I guess he's going by the standard that DS9 is the best ever and the less like DS9 an episode of Star Trek is, the worse rating it will get.

The first season of DS9 was the best.
