Maybe it's just me (possible rant)

I read that they are postponing the movie "Gangster Squad" because there's a theater shooting in the movie, so now instead of September it comes out in January. And they are re-shooting the scene.

Really? Yes, what happened in Aurora is pretty tragic, but if you take things out of the movies that might be too close to home for some viewers, why not go all the way?

Let's take out explosions, because some people get blown up.

Drunk drivers in movies who kill families.

GUNS AND KNIVES AND DUCKS AND RABBITS BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW RABBITS KILL AND THAT MIGHT BE OFFENSIVE OR TOO PERSONAL FOR PEOPLE

I don't understand it. It could be the sociopath in me, but it feels like an overreaction.

I remember back when the Colombine shootings happened, the WB (or CW) decided to not air one of the best Buffy episodes about someone wanting to kill the school. Turned out the lunch lady had spiked the food. And the guy with the gun in the episode (Jonathan) wanted to shoot himself, not other students. And I still thought...huh??

Remember after 9/11 stuff like this happened? They edited out the twin towers out of shows that were set pre 9/11.

Didn't they also like mess with ET and replace the guns with radios (or did that not happen/happen a different time)?

Already some on the left is wanting tighter gun control laws. I'm on the left, but I am not for tough gun control laws, but I digress. I heard some caller on a talk radio program say if your buying tons of amo, you should receive a knock on your door and get a mental health evaluation.

People seem to over react to things.

The people in charge of Gangster Squad should just wait a couple months and then go on as planned. Aurora will quickly fade, and no one will be offended.

I posted a link on FB about how Christian Bale visited the victims on his own, and not part of WB studios. Like I said on my post, I don't think that was necessary, but a nice gesture.

Its not just you Tis, I probably wasn't even going to see that film, but it still pisses me off that they would delay it, and even possibly re-edit it.

They have done the same to another film about neighbourhood watch because of that one lunatic who shot a black guy for looking suspicious.

Whenever entire countries change how they act, what they can watch, and their core beliefs, then the bad guys win.

Another pussy move from a pussy studio that's pissing away millions of advertising dollars over something they didn't cause.

Stupid, but that's liberal Hollywood Jew fags for you.

They should do a movie with EVERYTHING IN.

Planes crash into buildings, two boys kill loads of schoolchildren, chemical spills in India, Nuclear reactors blow up in Russia and Japan etc.

Michael Bay would do it...

Actually the Aurora connection is strictly smokescreen. I used to know people with connections in the movie biz on the distributions side, and it comes down to pure money. A film designed for summer release is ONLY ever pushed back to January or February for one reason: it sucks and the studio knows it, so they bury it in the traditionally dead post-holiday movie season. This way they have a chance to recoup some of their money because a shitty movie fares better against shitty competition.

The gangster movie is probably pretty awful, and would sink like a stone against the blockbusters already ruling the summer season. The season from fall to November 1 is more for thrillers and scary stuff, and they save the Oscar contenders for the end of the year so they'll be fresh in the voters' minds but still eligible.

But in the Jan/Feb deadlands a mediocre film might have a shot at pulling a few extra dollars in (I'm looking at you GIJOE) so they throw movies in there to salvage something from their investment when they know it's a turd. The connection to the Aurora thing is just a grab for a little free PR.
