Medieval Times

Excalibur casino in Vegas runs a similar show...

I have never actually been to Medieval times though.

The Excalibur show is outstanding, and it's always fun eating meat with your hands and pounding on bench type tables with your fists hard enough to make them shake.

It's a great time. ;)

Bite your tongue...

I adore the medieval time period. Well with the exception of being poor and the diseases and...

Well the I love the FANTASY of the medieval times I suppose. I have always fancied myself a knight in shining armor...

I even minored in Medieval studies once upon a time and to this day collect swords and have even begun making my own chainmail shirt. (much too involved and time consuming, believe me)

I would suggest, then, that you look up your local chapter of the SCA.

We do the whole Medieval thing and go beyond. If you dont want to get into the fighting, we do recreation and Arts and sciences as well.

I have a friend coming with to Medieval Times...he made his own chainmail shirt. It's heavy.

I have gone to some such events. I have always enjoyed them.

I noticed your avatar when I came back and I assumed you were into the SCA thing. ;)

I particularly enjoy a game that the Eugene, Oregon SCA plays upon occasion. I forget the name, but it involves a softball sized ball of chainmail and alot of unnecessary roughness. :)

It's the next best thing to being in a street brawl.

Great times ;)

LOL, yeah...

But that too is fun. It's great to have that much weight on you. Makes you feel tough and manly. :P

It also chafes. ;) I wonder if KHC was wearing actual chainmail in Andromeda? If so, kudos to him...

Yeah, it's heavy, but chainmail was made to stop everything but crushing attacks in battle. A medium size chainshirt should, if made properly of 12-16ga riveted metal rings, weigh about 30-60 pounds. Shit, my Lorica weighs about 45 pounds with the armor and underarmor. 100+ when I've got all my armor on.

But yeah, I've been in the SCA for about 3 1/2 years now and I've learned more history from people then books. I mean, the SCA has a 50 point persona inspection. From name, to job, to parents, and even if you had pets and such.

I have several friends that attend every year and they marvel at the experience they have each year, talking about it for months later. They do get all dressed up and involved, they take the best pictures to share with us.

I hope you also have an extraordinarily good time and can get your camera working, I would love to see some pictures!!!!!!

Enjoy sweetie!!!!
