Big Dick McGee
If you don't know, now ya know
Holy cow, I forgot to tell youse guys! I played a pretty difficult course on Sunday, with a rating of 125 (average is about 117). Pretty wide open, but loooong. Try 470-yard par-4. The Par-5's were monsters, one was 570! Add in the fact that there had been torrential rains the 2 days before, and you got NO roll. I hit two perfect drives, just tattooed the fuckin' ball, and they hit the FW at 235 and just stopped dead. On a normal day that would have been 250 easy.
I'm still not hitting the ball as long as I should, but I consistently hit the ball straight, and up in the air. Even though I only hit 3 GIR (and it was only par-3's), I did ok.
I got my ass saved on two consecutive holes, though. On the one hole, my third shot to a par-5 was heading dead left...until it hit a grass berm to the left of the green and kicked right to within 12 feet of the hole! One of only two birdies on the day. The very next hole, I hit a horrible approach which left me still with 30 feet to the green. I hit my 52* wedge a bit right, onto the fringe. I putted, but didn't take the severe downhill slope into account, and hit the ball wayyyy too hard. By all rights, the ball should have rolled off the green into the greenside bunker. But for some reason I elected to putt with the pin in, and it doinked off the stick and stopped dead within ten feet. I two-putted, and that bogey felt like a birdie.
Without those two lucky breaks, I seriously doubt I would have shot an 88!
I bet Mentalist and Gagh are the only 2 people who understand even half of what I just wrote!
